About Faith Gates, the person behind The Raven’s Treasures

The Raven was my father's nickname of sorts.  He was a computer pioneer and passed away much too soon.  Luckily he was alive to see me get my BFA from Syracuse University.  Until they handed me the paper, he always joked about what I did with the money he sent for college.  Both of my parents were crafty, really.  Mom worked in stained glass among other things, and passed that skill down to me.  She even gave me my first woodburner for Christmas.  Dad was a jack of all trades, and also crafty in the non-artistic sense.

After school I worked as a graphic designer until my first child was born.  I decided to stay home with my daughter and eventually found myself with a son.  He starts kindergarten this year, which means I can finally do something other than answer to the call of "mom."  Turns out, my daughter is autistic.  As much as she enjoys traveling and getting out, she is quite fond of her home.  If I could find a way to be here when they were, she could be comfortable at home after we carted my son to whichever sport was in season.

Hence my venture into woodburning.  Luckily I have a supportive husband who is willing to give me a chance at a creative outlet and possible source of income.  I have always strived to maintain a level of quality, no matter what the project.  I intend to continue that tradition.  I look forward to seeing what I am capable of, and being inspired by the ideas that customers bring to me.  Thank you for your interest, and I hope you enjoy my work, as I certainly enjoy doing it!
